 Pray with Us

Pray with us

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites… they love to pray for people to see them. But when you pray, go to your private room and, when you have shut your door, pray to the One who is in that secret place” (Matthew 6:5-6).

Thursday, March 25 Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord

“Let it be done to me according to your word”  Luke 1:26-38

 .

The poor, the humble, those with simple means, accept the divine origin of the Lord because this birth fulfills all their expectations, because he comes from a woman who is one of them, nonetheless conceived like no other, as the work of God.  Mary, for these reasons, did not need a man to conceive, God alone was the source of her fertility.  God, who is source and abundance of live and who has no need of human means to carry out God’s will, nevertheless requires a human means, a woman, to touch and heal all God’s creatures.

.

Mary said yes, more out of trust and faith than out of knowledge.  She barely understood what the angel explained to her... but she said "Yes".  Mary's faith would be put to the test every day.  She became pregnant without really knowing how, but knowing that her heart was filled with a special light.  Even while Joseph doubted, she lived immersed in the mystery without asking for proof.  She lived in the most radical mystery that exists - God. God, who knows and possesses all the solutions, yet required faith, the complete surrender to God’s will to fulfill the divine plan of salvation.  Mary allowed herself be guided by the faith that led her to believe, no matter how impossible the announcement may have seemed.

.

The Mystery was made incarnate in Mary in the most radical way imaginable, because she knew how to trust in the word of God. Mary knew how to wait.  How did she live those months, the last weeks she was expecting her Son?  Only through prayer and the union with God can we have the slightest idea of what she felt inside.  Mary also lived this event intensely; it transformed her entire existence radically.  She said "Yes" and physically engendered the Son of God, Whom she had already conceived through faith.  We must keep in mind that just as one day God grew in Mary’s womb, God can also grow today in our hearts. We need to have faith and believe this can happen, and, while we wait, we will be able to make sense out of our lives and look courageously towards the future.  God can grow within us if we surrender to the merciful hands of the One who loves us, calls us , and is always with us... .REFLECTION:   The congregation has as its charism the call to make the love of God as shown in the Incarnation a real and tangible presence in the world today. The sisters recognize the mystery of the Incarnation as the foundation of their charism, lives and spirituality.”  (CCVI Constitutions No. 2)Do you feel that we reflect God’s love in a real and tangible way in our daily lives?

How can we increase that gift that we were given and that the world longs for?
