Called to be a real and tangible presence of Jesus in the world today
We are a community of women religious of different ages with diverse gifts and talents, from many countries and cultures. We are united in the call to live the mission of Jesus, and are committed to live that call in community.
In 2008, in the spirit of cooperation and inclusion, we made the historic decision to change our organizational and governance structures, to unite across international borders and cultural boundaries in order to respond in deeper ways to the growing needs of the People of God in the 21st century.
The foundation of our lives, our spirituality and our ministry is the mystery of the Incarnation: that God in the person of Jesus Christ became human and lives among us. We move and act with awareness that God, by uniting Godself with all of creation through the person of Jesus, has made all creation sacred and holy. We contemplate this deep mystery, aware that we are called to a deeper relationship with God through others. We discern together how we use our gifts to serve God and all that God created, to promote and safeguard the fullness of all life, especially among the most vulnerable.
“To be a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word means to be sent to love as Jesus does—to make present in the world his compassionate and merciful love, and, to recognize and celebrate the many ways this love is already present around us” (Living the Mission Today).
