The Congregation holds a Chapter of Renewal which allows for broad participation of all the members. Committees research every aspect of the Congregation and offer proposals for change, adaptation, and renewal of: governmental structures, theology of the vows, apostolic works, liturgy and prayer life, sister formation and community living. Time is devoted to internal renewal , but we still continue expanding ministries in Mexico and the United States. Many begin working in parishes, dioceses, and other institutions not directly related to the Congregation. |

The Centennial (100 years) is celebrated by the Congregation in San Antonio on the anniversary of the death of Rev. Mother St. Madeleine Chollet. Coincidentally, the first astronauts land on the moon the same day—a fact not overlooked as we celebrate the faith and courage of our first Sisters coming to an unknown world and our current movement into the unknown world of a changing Church and a changing Congregation. |

This is a difficult time for the Congregation. As the number of vocations decreases, the Congregation withdraws its services from many institutions and the Sisters begin consolidating their resources. We lose many external signs of our identity. We learn to let go, realizing that the closing of our doors opens new ones for the laity. |

The General Chapter elects our first American-born General Superior. ▪ The Congregation decides to participate in a renewal program sponsored by the Institute for the Internal Resources of Renewal from 1973-1978. We experience the results in new attitudes toward leadership and authority, depth in interpersonal relationships, assumption of personal responsibility, and effective use of communication. |

Aware of poverty, the need for change in social structures, and in response to the call of the Latin American bishops at Medellin, Sisters in Mexico develop Pastoral Popular, a multi-faceted ministry to indigenous people in remote parts of the country as well as to persons living in extreme poverty in large metropolitan areas. |

Congregational Archives are set up. The letters of Rev. Mother Pierre Cinquin are translated from French into English. ▪ An interprovince heritage committee is established to research the spirit of Bishop Claude Dubuis and Jeanne de Matel, and to gather and translate materials relevant to the Congregation’s spirituality and charism. |
