in Guatemala
El Ixcan, Zona Sur, Guatemala, helps indigenous women and children by providing informal education and training in different dimensions of life. The Sisters also accompany persons who suffer from addictions.
Kano’J in El Quiche, Guatemala, is an educational project serving the educational needs of indigenous teenagers, male and female. It aims to break the cycle of poverty, and empower Guatemalan teenagers while keeping them grounded and rooted in their culture through Mayan spirituality, use of indigenous languages, and traditional customs. Kano’J is directed and staffed by Incarnate Word Missionaries and local Guatemalan personnel.
