This is a program in which HIV positive mothers agree not to breastfeed their newborn infants. The mother and infant will receive appropriate nutritional support, education for HIV prevention, and information for preventative newborn care.

Home-Based Care

Women participating in the Home-Based Care program The vision of the Home-Based Care in the Mongu Diocese is to reduce the effects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and to take care of chronically ill patients. It promotes life-giving opportunities for the chronically ill patients in their homes through spiritual, social, psychological, and emotional support and strives to limit the transmission of the HIV/AIDS virus.

This program endeavors to increase the capacities of communities and families to provide support and care for orphans and vulnerable children, and to mitigate against the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic through psychosocial programs, spiritual support, education, food, shelter, clothing and health.
