And the Word was made flesh and lived among us. JN. 1:14

A Reflection

Sisters in Ministry

In the Beginning was the Word...
.

How powerful it is to know that The Word who gives our life meaning is coeternal with God and holds us in a timeless embrace! This Word has been with us in each of our beginnings.

In 1625, when Jeanne Chezard de Matel founded a Congregation dedicated to the Incarnate Word, in Lyons, France;

In 1866, when Bishop Dubuis called for assistance, and the first three Sisters traveled to Galveston;

In 1869, when Sisters Madeleine, Pierre, and Agnes weathered the bumpy road to San Antonio;

When our beloved Sisters left San Antonio to bring him and find him in the people of Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Ireland, and Zambia!

And, "as it was in the beginning is now and ever will be" God speaks The Word; God speaks our lives in an ever-present NOW...

In every age, in every place, in every moment where one of us is, now and forever more, "Praised Be the Incarnate Word!"
