The Education Community of the “Liceo Cervantino” of the CCVI Family, with its more than 1100 students, located in the city of Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico, held its annual pilgrimage to the Guadalupe Sanctuary on December 1, 2016. The Sanctuary is in the downtown area and the pilgrimage is done to honor the Virgin of Guadalupe.
Pilgrimages are a popular tradition in this city. At the beginning of the month of December, several institutions have pilgrimages in honor of our Lady of Guadalupe, to show their gratitude for the blessings received during the year.
So the “Liceo Cervantino” participates in this beautiful tradition with the presence of all its collaborators and students, accompanied by the school musical band, a group of cheer leaders (who distribute food boxes and carry the standards), and the flag guard for each school shift (morning and evening). As the pilgrimage moves on, the band accompanies the participants with the traditional song, “La Guadalupana”.
When they arrive at the Guadalupe Sanctuary, the priest meets and blesses all the participants. When they enter the temple and each one is in place, the band plays “Las Mañanitas” in honor of the Virgin of Tepeyac; then the Mass begins with the active participation of all the students throughout.
This experience fosters the integral formation of the students and strengthens the formation of the collaborators, thus fostering the union of the school as a Catholic Institution which develops spiritual values.
