From Psalms for Praying: An Invitation to Wholeness (Nan C. Merrill).
O Beloved, why do we believe that
we can separate ourselves
from You, feeling like
aliens in a foreign land?
O, that we might return to
You know how much we tremble with fear;
help us to break down the walls,
to let go of illusions, for
we want to stand tall.
You, who are Love, gave us leeway
to wander far from home.
O Beloved, be gracious unto us,
welcome us back into new life,
hear our prayer!
Who dares to face their fears, to
break down the prison walls,
O grant us help to answer the call,
strengthen us with pure resolve!
With the Beloved we shall triumph;
with Love we shall be free!
