Reflections for Sr. Margaret Nugent by Sr. Alice Holden

Some of us were privileged to be present at the Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Margaret Nugent, RIP.  It was good to see her relatives there and many Sisters and friends. The homily was, in my mind, a great tribute to Margaret, to religious life,  and a reminder to me of the renewal process we are involved in to celebrate our 150th Jubilee.  I wrote a Haiku based on the homily given by Father Jim Rutkowski. Perhaps you would like to reflect on it also.

Homily for the Funeral of Sr. Margaret Nugent, CCVI

She
Chose the
Religious
Life years ago.
What was that
About
Now?

It’s
A life’s
Walk, learning
How to find GOD:
Happiness,
Heaven,
Home!

The
Practice
Of this life
Is to learn how:
How to LOVE,
To love
GOD!

Yes!
God’s WAY,
His Kingdom
Is to help all,
To support
All in
Need!

To
Assure
Others how
To Believe—Love
As a child
Of our
GOD.

What
Does it
Mean to be
Humble—Giving
In service
To all
Here?

So
Sister
Learned how to
Live as JESUS:
Blessing all
By her
Love.

The
Life of
Religious
Is what SHE chose.
We thank her
And pray:
REST!

This sums up a homily given by Rev. James Rutkowski at a funeral Mass for Sister Margaret The Chapel of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX, on October 12, 2019.
