The Young Women’s Global Leadership Program is a group of students who have met virtually from around the world. Local sessions were coordinated from the University of the Incarnate Word. The student team from St. Anthony Catholic High School recognized that many young women from other countries had very limited resources to participate in the virtual sessions. St. Anthony Catholic High School and Incarnate Word High School in San Antonio utilized funds from their winning grants to purchase laptops for young women in Uganda, Kosovo, Kenya and other countries involved in the Leadership Program. Eight laptops were distributed to a total of 51 young women in East Africa – these students had been relying on their mentors’ phones or a single computer to attend program conferences. The student team reports that it has been a significant relief for the young women to access zoom sessions sharing the laptops, and the students are excited to utilize them for their program presentations and cross-cultural interactions.
