Where is the Risen Christ?

By Ilia Delio, OSF

Where is this risen Christ? Everywhere and all around us; in you, your neighbor, the dogwood tree outside, the budding grapevine, the ants popping up through the cracks.
The whole world is filled with God who is shining
through even the darkest places of our lives.
To ‘go to Church’ is to awaken to this divine presence in our midst and respond in love with a ‘yes’: Your life, God, is my life and the life of the planet.

Yes. The April forsythia speaks to me most clearly of (at least, small R) resurrection! So good to read Ilia Delio’s words, confirming my most intimate intuitions.

Just this evening, the Canon of Canterbury quoted Gerard Manley Hopkins in Vespers from her residence near the historic Cathedral: “The world is charged with the grandeur of God.” (I’ve been “attending” liturgies in the United Kingdom, thanks to technology!)

Edward Estlin Cummings, not usually thought of as a religious poet, has a sonnet of gratitude where he thanks God “for most this amazing day” and “for everything which is natural which is infinite which is yes.” I thought of Cummings’ yes when I read Sr Delio’s yes!

Hello Thomas! Thank you for reading us and for your analysis! It’s great that thanks to technology we can get closer to many spiritual approaches!
