The Chapel of the Incarnate Word is excited to present Conspirare’s 25th anniversary season opener, “Bach Plus.” This concert weaves the jubilant motets of J.S Bach with poetry and a premiere from cutting-edge composer Ted Hearne. Rarely performed together, the motets represent the pinnacle of baroque musical composition, weaving a playful and powerful musical tapestry. Let Conspirare’s dazzling virtuosity take your breath away in this season opener.
Hundreds of voices from throughout the city will come together to sing the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah with the San Antonio Choral Society and the instrumental ensemble Sonido Barocco. Ashley Logan, soprano; Heather Yun, mezzo-soprano; Eric Schmidt, tenor; and Joseph Herron, bass-baritone will be our featured soloists. The audience is the chorus. Each year this event attracts many downtown tourists and helps raise funds for a local charity. In the past, Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA), Corazon Ministries, Inc., and the San Antonio Food Bank have been the beneficiaries of this event.
Christmas Vigil Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of the Incarnate Word, with the combined communities of the Chapel of the Incarnate Word and the University of the Incarnate Word.
Seating is limited; the Chapel doors will be closed when we reach capacity.
Singing begins at 5:00 pm.
