The Gospels do not focus on the suffering of Jesus, but on his love. Jesus sweats blood in the garden, the place where lovers go! What was Jesus’ agony? That he was going to be abandoned. That’s a lover talking.

Grief
Almost a year ago, the Pope was reflecting on the Beatitudes as part of his daily reflections. The second Beatitude is: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted”.
Feast of the Presentation
February 2nd is celebrated as the Feast of the Presentation … when Jesus was taken by his parents to the temple – as was to their custom – to be presented and consecrated to God. He was received and recognized by Simeon, and by Anna, two venerable elders. The scene is recounted in today’s Gospel.
