Happy Heritage Day, CHRISTUS Health Family and Friends!

Today, as a CHRISTUS Health Community, we pause to honor the history and legacy of our Sponsoring Congregations, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of Houston, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of San Antonio and the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth.  In the Christian faith tradition, we also celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation of Mary, which recalls the angel Gabriel appearing to Mary and proclaiming that she would conceive and give birth to a son named Jesus- the Incarnate Word.   At CHRISTUS Health, we are blessed to continue their legacy of responding “YES” to God’s call to serve our brothers and sisters.

As Associates  and Friends of CHRISTUS, our Sponsoring Congregations have entrusted us with continually bringing life to our mission and creating a strong foundation for the Associates who will come after us. We are bearers of their legacy; our responsibility is to understand our roots and articulate their incarnational spirituality to others. As we often say at CHRISTUS, “we are His hands, we are our Sisters hands, healing all we touch.”

We are excited to share with you the CHRISTUS Health Sponsoring Congregation Virtual Heritage Center. Please take time to learn about our Sponsoring Congregations and the many ways they served and continue to serve the community. We also encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the lessons the Sisters have taught us and how you continue their work today at CHRISTUS.
