Self Control

The gift of self-control enables people to plan, evaluate alternative actions, and ideally avoid doing things they’ll later regret, rather than immediately respond to every impulse as it arises.

Now more than ever, we need to practice self-control. We want to leave our homes, and experience freedom of movement. We want to see our friends and families, all those from whom we’ve been isolated. We want to go out – shopping, to dinner, to friends’ homes, to our place of work. We want to live without care or worry.

But is it time? Are we ready? Can I avoid doing things I’d later regret? Can I continue to consider the common good and act not for my own need, but for the benefit of others?
