Renewing the Oikos of God

Dear CCVI family,

As each year, from September 1 to October 4, our Church invites us to pray and act for the protection of our common home. This 2021, the theme for this Season is “A home for all? Renewing the Oikos of God”. With this topic, the Members of the Season of Creation Advisory Committee remind us that “we live in the household of God, the oikos, the Beloved Community.” Although “our fundamental interconnectedness has been at best forgotten, at worst deliberately denied,” our call to return to being the beloved community of intentional discipleship continues to drive our hearts. It’s time for prayer and action!

“The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word care for the common home by ensuring that the materials and refreshments used in all activities are environmentally friendly” (Corporate Action, 2016).

Therefore, we invite you to renew your commitment to be protectors of God’s creation by re-reading and praying with our Corporate Action for Creation. Remember that you can be a driver and advocate of sustainable practices. Here are some resources that may be useful for you, your community, family and/or ministry.

  1. The first resource is the 2021 Prayer Guide developed by Ecology Desk of Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. In this guide you will find the Creation Mandala and a Liturgical Guide.

  1. The second resource is the Season of Creation website supported by the Laudato Si’ Movement. On this website you will find the Season of Creation Guide, the Earth Exam, an International Event Checklists, and prayers.

  1. The CCVI Corporate Action for Creation. In 2016, in response to meaningful conversations enlightened by the Encyclical Letter “Laudato Si,” the whole Congregational family took a corporate action for the care of the common home. You can read the full Corporate Action here.
